According to the American Dental Association (ADA), cleaning between teeth removes plaque that can lead to cavities or gum disease from the areas where a toothbrush can’t reach. Interdental cleaning is proven to help remove debris between teeth that can contribute to plaque buildup.

Most popular dental floss in the market are made of nylon or Teflon and packaged in plastic containers - none of which are biodegradable. Good for your teeth, bad for the environment.

And so, I have done a little research and found out that there seems to a new type of floss that's compostable and plastic-free, silk floss. On my first product review, let me introduce: Wowe Natural Biodegradable Silk Dental Floss.

First Impression - product is housed in a small brown box approximately ~2.5 x 2.5 x 1 inches.

Inside the box is a small tin canister and 2 refill rolls. At this point, I could catch a faint whiff of mint from the product.

Main event: Using the product. I've decided against including pictures of my mouth and instead just type my actual thoughts on the product. Starting with about a foot long of floss, I wound most of the floss to my 2 pointing fingers. At this point, I've determined that this floss is less slippery than most of the popular brands and therefore easier to work with between teeth - texture is almost like a thin candle wick but in a good way. I felt that the floss was able to collect more plaque and debris compared to my usual nylon waxed floss.

Less slippery = floss collecting more dirt.

*Wowe Natural floss' texture reminds me of another dental floss brand, CocoFloss (but as of June 2019, Cocofloss is made of polyester fibers that are not biodegradable).

One thing that I need to disclose is that I have moderate gaps between my teeth except for one with an ultra tight space between 2 teeth. In one occassion, the product did tear when I used it on this spot. Nylon floss might have more strength since nylon is made of plastic. If you have moderate gaps between your teeth, the floss is perfect for you.

My verdict is it's a GO product. I really like the concept of recycable packaging and refillable cannister. It's a one step to a more sustainable lifestyle.
